Horse Names Blog Hop

Hand Gallop's current blog hop is something I've been thinking about a lot lately, so it's in perfect time!

What's the origin of your horse's show name and barn name?

It's a short story, actually.  Jazz came with her barn name.  As I'm fairly sure I mentioned long, long ago, and have repeated often since, Jazz was a rescue.  She was purchased from an auction as a yearling, and the rescue owners named her Jazz.  If I was being really true to what the question was asking, that would be the end of this post, but that would be no fun.

Jazz hasn't been to any shows bigger than little gymkhanas we've done the last two summers (which we unfortunately weren't able to make this year), so I've never needed a show name.  That of course hasn't stopped my from fruitlessly trying to pick a show name for all the imaginary shows I'm sure to take the red ribbon at.

I have seriously considered Colby Jazzmus, which I've given the back story to here, but I'm not sure.  I don't know if it really sounds like a good show name. I honestly haven't spent much time around horses with show names, so I have no idea of the conventions or where to draw good name ideas from.  If anyone has good suggestions I would love that!

That doesn't mean that she only has one name, of course. Jazz has many, many nicknames, which include
-Jazzy
-sweetheart
-Miss Jazz
-Turkey
-Dork
-Jazzy Jazz
-Princess Jazz
-Fancy
and my personal favourite:
-Lovey bear (lovey for short).  I swear she used to glare at me for calling her that

Long Overdue

Okay, I admit it.  I've been holding out on you guys.

Majorly holding out.

For longer than was probably fair.  Dedicated readers (by which I mean me rereading and overanalyzing all my old posts) may have noted the updates on what I've been doing with Jazz getting vaguer and farther apart since July or so.  The main reason being my aversion to figuring out how to put videos on my blog.  My phone is very annoying to move photos and videos off of, and I wasn't sure I wanted a youtube channel (what seemed like the easiest way to get them onto my blog).  Needless to say, it has been a looong while since I've been wholly... comprehensive, shall we say.

Then I decided to write this post and set the record straight, and ran into yet more video troubles and shelved it again.  I could ramble on and on forever about my horse (as my non-horsey friends will testify), but the hardest part of blogging for me is just getting pictures and videos taken and onto my computer.

Either way, the torture is almost over.  Here's the first teaser of things to come.

That small, grainy cell phone video was the very first time jumping for both of us, and that video was taken August 6th.  So, I definitely have a lot of catching up to do still.
